Trump Strikes at Heart of Globalism at UN

Loser media meltdown an added benefit.

You know Trump hit a nerve when the failing New York Times headlined his speech today: “Trump Uses U.N. Speech to Make False Claims and Lecture World Leaders.”

One problem for Pravda on the Hudson is that everything Trump said was fundamentally true, especially in his bullseye attack on twin pillars of globalism: climate change alarmism and uncontrolled migration.

Pointing out how many times the radical environmentalists have been wrong, Trump said that climate change is the “greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.”

He then walked through instances when green radicals have been wrong, including when they previously said that global cooling would doom the planet and the multiple times going back to the 1980s when they said some nations would drown within ten years.

This marks an unambiguous and irreversible rejection of what is basically the civic religion of the globalist progressive Left: climate change alarmism. After the Cold War and amid the dawn of postmodernity and globalism, they pushed God out of their world view and replaced Him with the religion of climate change. That cult is basically an update of pagan sun god worship of early recorded history: a god who is angry at humans and who demands their sacrifice. This new paganism had the added benefit of putting the feckless global elite that hangs out at the UN in charge of the economy, especially energy production.

Trump pointed out how the Chinese in particular laugh all the way to the bank selling windmills to the West while building more coal and nuclear-powered plants that produce electricity much cheaper and more reliably. The consequences of this policy are real if uncalculated: higher energy prices make food production, housing, healthcare, and virtually every other beneficial human endeavor costlier and scarcer. The climate change fetish and other green radicalism have shortened millions of lives around the world or made them more miserable.

That’s over for the United States. Trump urged Europe to clue in.

Trump also struck at another key pillar of globalism and progressivism: uncontrolled migration. This ties closely with multiculturalism and is combined into the big lies that all cultures are equally good and that diversity is a strength. Voters across the West have signaled their rejection of this fiction.

In the United States, their rejection is now policy. Across Western Europe, especially Britain, France, and Germany, the political class is refusing to do what voters want and protect their culture, especially from political Islam. If fair elections were held in any of those countries today, their governments would fall and be replaced by nationalist governments. Trump warned an obdurate political class in Europe that denies its peoples’ wills that migration is “destroying countries” and killing “national identities.” They should take heed.

The mainstream media characterized the speech as an assault on most of those present. But that just shows how clueless and isolated the media has become: most of the foreign leaders present would never allow uncontrolled migration into their countries, nor would they allow the price of energy for their nations to skyrocket just to sooth the concerns of neurotic Karens and white dotard hippies in the West worshipping the civic religion of climate change alarmism.

Sure, most of these leaders have been more than willing to pay lip service to these globalist passions, especially if money and pleasant and important-feeling trips to New York and other UN environs like Geneva come along with the deal. But only the West has been dumb enough actually to take these self-damaging steps. The majority of those present probably figured the jig would be up sooner or later.

The White House telegraphed in advance that Trump and other administration officials would declare the obvious: that on its 80^th birthday, the UN has not lived up to its promise. But Trump took this to a higher and unambiguous level, calling the organization “feckless,” especially at its supposedly key mission of preventing or ending wars. He rightly pointed out that he has done much more than the UN, which is to say more than nothing.

The media was left sputtering. Among the more ludicrous passions of the climate change alarmists has been the production of methane from cattle, which is even more wicked than carbon alone since it comes with four hydrogen atoms attached that supposedly drive climate change. This led Trump to joke that environmentalists want to “kill all cows.” Within seconds, an earnest and pointless reporter at the New York Times (look at their pictures—they all look constipated; is it against the rules for them to smile?) earnestly and pointlessly wrote that environmentalists did not want to kill all cows. Once again, Trump demonstrated the delight that comes from the easy task of provoking this effete corps of impudent snobs.

As I watched our president demolish more of the stanchions of the climate change hoax and migration scam, I couldn’t help think how far we have come. In my first tour as a political appointee at the State Department, which was during the George W. Bush administration, one of the joys of my job was helping with speeches explaining why the United States had withdrawn from the Kyoto Protocol, a predecessor to the Paris Climate Accords I was able to see President Trump withdraw the United States from during my second tour. My boss at the time, Under Secretary of State Paula Dobriansky, repeatedly, politely, but firmly warned the Europeans and other poohbahs on the diplomatic circuit that the United States would not go along with climate suicide pacts. In Indonesia in 2007, she warned there must be an “approach to climate change that is environmentally effective and economically sustainable.” That warning was ignored. Today, the global elite can see the consequences of its decision.

Then there is the change on migration. Recall that candidate Trump said this in 2015 as the Republican presidential contest heated up:

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best… They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

The statement led to a complete and total meltdown. And not just by progressives and their lapdog media: most Republican bigs freaked out. A decade later, Trump’s comments on migrants are self-evident to most voters even if not to the political class.

Far from offering the UN a few tips on sprucing up the place at age 80, Trump made a huge and important splash in New York. He no doubt was taking advice from that seminal movie about show business and politics, which are often one and the same, also set in New York City. I speak of course of The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984), in which Miss Piggy admonishes Kermit the Frog: “This is show business, Kermie. You gotta dazzle ‘em, or they’ll walk right over you!”

Dazzle them Trump did.
